Let's talk about the Menstrual Cycle

What phases make up the menstrual cycle?

The menstrual cycle consists of four phases, typically lasting 28 days.

The Menstrual Phase starts on day 1 and will often last until day 5 or 6. Your hormones drop during this time if pregnancy doesn't occur. This results in the shedding of your uterine lining.

The Follicular Phase starts on day 1, overlapping with the menstruation phase. This phase continues until day 13. During this time estrogen rises to prepare the body for pregnancy.

Ovulation occurs on day 14. Ovulation occurs when an egg is released from the ovary. On this day, you are the most fertile and likely to get pregnant.

The Luteal Phase starts on day 15 and goes until the end of the cycle, typically day 28. During this phase, progesterone increases to prepare the uterus for a potential pregnancy
